Shelley Long
Shelley Long is a multiple-award-winning film and television actress. Born and raised in Fort Wayne, md., Long was a natural on the stage, appearing in numerous high school plays. After graduating with a degree in drama from Northwestern University, she began her career in Chicago by performing in small films and local theatre, eventually becoming co-host and associate producer of the Chicago magazine show
Sorting It Out, for which she won three local Emmys.
She eventually returned to her first passion, acting, and joined Chicago's famed Second City improvisational comedy troupe. Shortly thereafter, Long landed a role as barmaid Diane Chambers in the long-running NBC hit comedy Cheers. Long tickled audiences for 5 seasons on the perennial hit, garnering an Emmy Award and two Golden Globes for her memorable performances. She returned to the series' top-rated finale and has reprised her role as Cheers' Diane in guest appearances on NBC's Frasier. Long also has an impressive film career starring in Losin' It opposite Tom Cruise, in Ron Howard's Night Shift with Henry Winkler and Michael Keaton, Irreconcilable Differences with Ryan O'NeaI, The Money Pit co-starring Tom Hanks and Outrageous Fortune with Bette Midler. Her other film credits include: The Brady Bunch Movie, A Very Brady Sequel, Hello Again, Troop Beverly Hills and Caveman.
On television, Long starred in leading roles in television movies including Vanished Without a Trace, Memories of a Murder, Voices Within: The Lives of Truddi Chase, Freaky Friday, and Lifetime's A Different Kind of Christmas.
