William McNamara
After the second season of Beggars and Choosers wrapped production, McNamara immediately segued to the lead role in the feature film Past Tense. In this action film, he plays an undercover cop in over his head, with Dina Meyer as his love interest and Roy Snyder as his nemesis.
Born in Dallas, Texas, where his father raced GT40s and Cobras for the Ford Motor Company, McNamara was raised in New York City by his mother, a successful interior designer. He began his acting career at Columbia University. His very first feature film was Stealing Home, in which he starred opposite Oscar winner Jodie Foster. He went on to star in Diane Keaton's Wildflower, for which he received a Cable Ace Award nomination for Best Actor, and his success continued with such films as Peter Bogdonvich's Texasville and Dennis Hopper's Chasers and Stella, also starring Bette Midler.
McNamara received rave reviews for his performance in the Emmy Award-winning television movie Doing Time on Maple Drive, and also starred opposite Sigourney Weaver, Holly Hunter, and Dermot Mulroney as a deranged serial killer in Copycat.
On stage, McNamara has spent many summers at The Williamstown Theater Festival, starring in such productions as True West, Wild Honey and Henry IV.
McNamara now lives in Malibu, California with his two dogs, a Rhodesian ridge back and a mutt from the Agoura Animal Shelter, an organization that he actively supports. A skilled martial artist, McNamara studies and trains in Bruce Lee's Jeet Kun Do.
