Biography #2Jon Seda has just completed two years portraying detective Paul Falsone on the Emmy® Award-winning drama Homicide: Life on the Streets. A former Golden Gloves boxer, Seda made his acting debut in the feature film Gladiator where he played one of the leading boxer roles. He went on to star with Woody Harrelson in Michael Cimino's The Sunchaser, a performance that earned Seda a Best Actor nomination at the 1996 Cannes Film Festival. Seda starred opposite Jennifer Lopez as the husband of the slain Tejano singer in Selena, produced by Esparza/Katz. In addition, Seda earned a 1995 Spirit Award nomination for Best Male Lead for his role in I Like It Like That.
Always active in sports, Seda became a Golden Gloves amateur boxer after high school, winning more than 20 bouts, including five in the 1990 New Jersey Golden Gloves competition. Presently, he sponsors an adult flag football team, which won the 1997 New Jersey State Championship in their league, area youth basketball and softball teams. Seda also spends his spare time working with young people, visiting schools and youth organizations in New Jersey, Baltimore and New York.
Since childhood, Seda has fostered a love for music. Today he plays the piano and drums and writes his own lyrics.
Seda's other credits for the screen include, Dear God, Primal Fear, 12 Monkeys, Carlito's Way, Boys on the Side, and for television, NYPD Blue and HBO's Oz. He was recently seen in the NBC telefilm reuniting the Homicide cast, and will next be seen in A&E's Thin Air.
