A California native, director/producer/writer Ron Moler
's first love has always been that glamorous combination of sand, sea and of course, surf. Moler grew up in the surfing world of the 60's and 70's and directed his first surfing movie at the age of fifteen. Later, after earning his film school degree, he directed and produced documentaries for the Sierra Club and the Planning and Conservation League. Moler then went on to work for CBS as a film editor and later branched out to start his own company. This company, Aspect Ratio, Inc., is now the premiere motion picture marketing and advertising agency in the business, having created marketing campaigns for films such as Ghost, Forrest Gump, Independence Day, Air Force One, Liar Liar and Men In Black. While being the creative director and president of Aspect Ratio, Moler also directed a number of award-winning commercials.
Moler previously directed The Runner, starring Ron Eldard, John Goodman, Courtney Cox and Joe Montegna, while his producing credits include Bachelor Party, starring Tom Hanks, I Love You to Death, starring Kevin Kline, and Endless Summer 2.
Local Boys is the first production of Capstone Pictures, which was recently formed by Moler and his partner, Jennie Lew Tugend. As the company's debut effort, Moler was in the enviable position to shape the film with a well-practiced, seasoned eye. In addition to serving as its director and one of two producers (along with Tugend), Moler also spent a considerable amount of time writing and shaping the script.
