Alicia Silverstone

Alicia Silverstone currently stars in NBC's Miss Match, a dramedy in which she plays Kate Fox, a divorce attorney by day who feels compelled to balance her relationship karma by moonlighting as a matchmaker. In taking on her first series television role, Silverstone continues to stake out new territory in a career distinguished by its diversity and versatility. Her performance earned Silverstone her first Golden Globe award nomination for Best Actress in a Television Comedy Series.

Silverstone gained worldwide acclaim as Cher, the quintessential Beverly Hills teenager with a heart of gold in the hit film Clueless. Since then, she has continued to expand her horizons both as an actress and a producer. She soon set up her company First Kiss Productions, where she produced and starred in Excess Baggage, with Christopher Walken and Benicio Del Toro. First Kiss continues to produce the award-winning animated television series Braceface. Since its critically-acclaimed debut in June 2001, Braceface has garnered unprecedented ratings for the ABC Family Network in its prime Saturday morning slot.

Silverstone has continued to tackle roles ranging from superheroes to Shakespearean heroines starting with Batgirl in the blockbuster Batman & Robin. She followed this by re-teaming with the comedy Blast From The Past with Brendan Fraser. Again embracing the unexpected, Silverstone next triumphed in the Shakespearean musical Love's Labour's Lost opposite Academy Award nominee Kenneth Branagh.

In 2002, Silverstone forged ahead in yet another direction, making her Broadway debut as Elaine Robinson in the smash-hit comedy The Graduate. The production, in which she starred alongside Kathleen Turner and Jason Biggs, sold out upon opening through Silverstone's entire run, breaking Broadway box office records.

Silverstone was born in San Francisco, but spent much time in England, the native country of her parents. Her rise to fame began in 1992 when, after a guest appearance on The Wonder Years, she landed the leading role in The Crush. Silverstone's performance as an adolescent girl obsessed with her neighbor, played by Cary Elwes, caught the eye of the rock group Aerosmith who quickly cast her in their next three videos. The first in the trilogy, Cryin', was voted Best Video of All Time on MTV.

The busy actress soon added more credits to her resume with leading roles in the Showtime movie The Cool and the Crazy, alongside Jeff Goldblum and Christine Lahti in the science fiction thriller Hideaway and subsequent starring roles in The Babysitter and Alain Corneau's love story Le Nouveau Monde. This culminated in Silverstone's star-making turn in Clueless.

Alicia has earned a total of four MTV Movie Awards as well as a Blockbuster Award, Nickelodeon Award, American Comedy Award and the prestigious National Board of Review Award. This year she was named Cosmopolitan Magazine's Fun Fearless Female of the Year for 2004.
