Born and raised in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area of Texas, Ilonzeh is the eldest of five sisters. She began taking dance lessons at a young age, but quickly learned she was better suited for sports -- basketball, soccer and track. In high school she discovered her passion for basketball and began taking it very seriously, setting her sights on a career in professional basketball and coaching.
Ilonzeh earned a college basketball scholarship and played for several years, but on a visit to Los Angeles in 2006, the idea of an acting career suddenly appealed to her. Without looking back, she moved to Los Angeles, having decided to give herself a year to explore show business. In that first year she booked two advertising jobs, so she decided to stay for another year. Many more commercials and small TV and movie roles followed. Then, in March 2010, she got her big break and was cast as Maya Ward on General Hospital.
When the opportunity to be one of the new Charlie's Angels came up, Ilonzeh prepared for her audition by watching old episodes and learning more about female police officers. Two months later, while on the basketball court, she received the call that she had been cast as Kate Prince.
Ilonzeh spends most of her free time in the gym and considers it her happy place. She creates her own routines, incorporating moves from favorite sports such as boxing and mixed martial arts. Fitness is a major part of her life, and she also spends time with her Chihuahuas, Capone and Pacino. She loves Mexican food in moderation, R&B music, and counts among her favorite movies The Sound of Music, the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and The Sandlot.
