Poulter is a London native whose love of performing began at the age of four with a role as an elf in a local school play. Over the years, he continued acting in school productions without benefit of formal drama lessons. He was discovered by casting director Susie Figgis at the secondary school he attends, Harrodian, whose active drama department is on the local film/TV industry's radar for new talent.
Poulter is part of the ensemble cast (with other young comedic actors from the Harrodian School) in School Of Comedy, the pilot of which aired on Channel 4's Comedy Lab in August 2008. School Of Comedy was commissioned for a full series by Channel 4, with the first season's episodes debuting in fall 2009.
