RZA
In 1999, RZA got the first taste of living his dream. Director Jim Jarmusch asked RZA to score Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai, a modern samurai film, and offered him a cameo in the film, which helped bring him to where he is today. As an actor, RZA has shown real range from his hilarious stints on Chappelle's Show to the Jarmusch film Coffee and Cigarettes. RZA next starred in the drama Derailed, alongside Clive Owen, and, most recently, Ridley Scott's American Gangster, for which the cast garnered a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.
This year, he will be seen in the independent features Life Is Hot in Cracktown and Gospel Hill. Next year, he will be seen in Universal Pictures' Repossession Mambo, starring Jude Law and Forest Whitaker. In 2003, RZA scored Kill Bill Vol. 1 for Quentin Tarantino, for which he received a BAFTA nomination.
In 2004, he contributed music to Barbershop 2: Back in Business, Soul Plane, Kill Bill Vol. 2 and Blade: Trinity. In 2007, RZA scored the critically acclaimed Spike TV animated series Afro Samurai and, in 2008, Afro Samurai: Resurrection, which starred Samuel Jackson. That same year, he also contributed to the score of the 20th Century Fox film Babylon A.D., which starred Vin Diesel.
RZA continues to make strides within an industry that captured his attention as a youth.
