Last year Hermann portrayed Jeremy Glick in the critically acclaimed, award-winning United 93, directed by Paul Greengrass. He regards this role as the most significant project he has been involved with thus far, and says: "We all felt 'United 93' was such an honorable use of the medium of film - not only to tell a story, but to remember, to create a record of a piece of history, to pay homage. More recently he appeared in The Treatment," starring Sir Ian Holm and Famke Janssen.
Hermann starred in Eric Bogosian's Tony-nominated revival of Talk Radio at the Longacre Theatre on Broadway. He made his Broadway debut in the National Actors Theatre production of Judgment at Nuremberg, starring Maximilian Schell and directed by John Tillinger. Other New York stage credits include The Gathering, opposite Theodore Bickel, with additional regional credits as Orsino in Twelfth Night at the Guthrie and Brick in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at Arena Stage in Washington, DC.
Hermann was born in New York to German parents. Two months later the family returned to Germany, where he lived until the age of ten. They then moved back to the U.S., settling in Greenwich, Connecticut. After graduating from Yale, where he divided his time between the crew team and the stage, he headed for the South Bronx as a part of Teach for America. During the summer break, he would study with the renowned Japanese director Tadashi Suzuki in Toyama, Japan.
He currently lives in New York with his wife and son.
