James Francis Kelly III
With an extensive background in theatre, athletics and academics, Kelly has skill, knowledge and a confidence that impressed Sylvester Stallone, who cast him as the troubled son of a former neighbor who has returned, down on her luck, to the old neighborhood.
While Rocky Balboa marks James' feature film debut, his television credits include episodes of 7th Heaven, On Common Ground' and Profiler.
Though focused on an acting career, he was captain of his high school football team, plays soccer and racquetball, and has studied Muai Thai, a traditional form of self defense.
Kelly was born in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania to an African-American/Native-American mother and a father who is a second generation Irishman in the United States. He was recently adopted into the Crow nation and given the formal Indian name Kawaysash. It means he who does not give up.
TONY BURTON (Duke) is one of only three to appear in all six Rocky films, re-teaming with Sylvester Stallone and Burt Young. A professional actor for over a quarter of a century, he posted a 16-3 pro boxing record and held the light heavyweight championship of Arizona. The six foot, 200 pound Burton knocked out, among others, Bob Smith and Denny Chaney. His most important match was a 1959 sixth round knockout defeat at the hands of undefeated Lamar Clark, the 10th rated heavyweight who had scored 38 straight knockouts.
In addition to playing the corner man in six Rocky tales, his approximately 100 movie and television acting credits include the Stanley Kubrick masterpiece The Shining, plus the movies Armed And Dangerous, Side Out, House Party 2, Hook, Knockout and Hack! He also acted in multiple episodes of The Paper Chase" TV series.
