Chaka Forman

Chaka Forman was born in New York City and grew up in Atlanta, GA. He studied Education and Theatre at Brown University, where he graduated with honors.

Forman has recently appeared in several independent films, including LOCAL BOYS, BARELY BUZZED and SWALLOW. He also attended the Sundance Film Lab, where he played boxer Sonny in THE ORTEGAS.

Notable television credits include NYPD Blues, CSI, The Pretender, and a series regular role on the WB's Hyperion Bay. He also appeared as Owen Breck in the ABC mini-series, Innocent Victims, in which Daily Variety had this to say: In the memorable department, Forman's mixed up Breck tops the list.

Forman's career began on the stage and he returns to it as often as possible. He has performed in the Los Angeles area at the Tiffany Theatre, The Actors Gang, The Matrix Theatre and The Los Angeles Theatre Centre.

The importance of progressive thinking and helping others was instilled in him from a very young age. Forman's father is James Forman Sr., a pioneer in the American civil rights movement, and his grandmother is acclaimed British author and muckraker Jessica Mitford. When not on the set, Forman enjoys working with children. In association with the Foliage Theatre Project, he organizes a Shakespeare performance workshop with incarcerated juveniles and can often be found teaching in local middle schools.
