Luiz Carlos Vasconcelos
Before becoming an actor and theater director, Vasconcelos graduated in Language and Literature from the Federal University of Paraiba. He took courses in theater in Denmark and was part of the Intrépida Troupe. He has worked a great deal with the clown Xuxu since 1978. He is the director and founder of the Escola de Teatro and the Circo Piolim. When he staged Vau da Sarapalha, by Guimaráes Rosa, he achieved nationwide recognition; he has won awards and earned the respect of fellow-professionals. Having acted in the opera Matogrosso, staged by Gerald Thomas and Philip Glass, he made his film debut in 1996, in Baile Perfumado, set in Pernambuco. He played the outlaw Lampiáo. He followed this with O Primeiro Dia (Salles & Thomas), Me You Them (Andrucha Waddington) and Behind the Sun (Walter Salles).
