This is a clip from the interview for the Heiress promo ni Maricel Soriano at Janella Salvador sa TWBA. I just really felt her sincerity when she was skied on her thoughts about retirement and about the industry. https://youtu.be/TyQgR0JeNqc _________ Ala m mong marami na syang napagdaanan in both career and personal life nya - 49 of her 55 years she dedicated sa industriya. And nakakaproud lang na andito pa rin sya nakatayo and still entertaining us. I feel blessed that she is still here. She might be older but the gem still shines. Nasa self-actualization stage na nga siguro sya, you can see na masaya sya pag nasa set at nagwowork. She has been acting all her life and she finds real joy in it and sharing this love for her craft to younger actors now. One can post all the blind items you want pero ang di mabubura yung pagmamahal ng napakarami - fans and people in the industry kasi kelangan pa rin ng industriya ang isang Maricel Soriano.

On the acting front, we have to say that Maricel Soriano is the star of this movie. She proves yet again why she is considered to be one of the best actresses in the country. The movie is heavy drama thus, there are numerous crying scenes but the most memorable and effective ones were delivered by Maricel. Her brilliance as an actress is evident in how she is able to make viewers feel empathy because you just feel her pain. Gabby and Agot are also 2 other veterans who have already proven their acting prowess and as expected did well. For the younger casts, they did fairly good and there were some notable scenes from them. Lovi Poe was ok but there was no sincerity in her acting in several scenes. As a viewer, I didn’t feel as if she was the character. Probably, the best acted scene from Lovi would be towards the end of the movie when she takes drastic action after her problems multiply. Carla Abellana did fine as well and her best scene was her confrontation with Maricel’s character.

Eto lifetime achievement award na totoo (Thu Sep 24, 2020 12:30am ET)IP: a29ea625 | report post
by Linda
Later this month, the Philippine Movie Press Club Star Awards for Television will honor Maricel Soriano with the Ading Fernando Lifetime Achievement Award. When she heard of the news, her humor-filled reaction was so expected: “Bakit Lifetime Achievement Award na ang binibigay nila sa akin? Fifty-one years old pa lang naman ako, ah.” Someone should have told her that her age has no bearing on the award at all—because even when she was, say, a little younger, she already deserved such a recognition for her priceless contribution to the industry. Anyone with a good working history of local entertainment knows that Maricel Soriano occupies a secure place in it. When she was 18, she did a movie for her arch rival’s home studio Viva Films, titled Saan Darating Ang Umaga?, and that aria in the hospital (“Wala sa damit, wala sa kulay ang pagmamahal; nasa puso, nasa utak!”) merited not only a Best Supporting Actress plum from the Famas but the scene and the line also became iconic, oft-repeated declaration. And we have not even begun to enumerate her heart-and-soul performances: as Adela, the spurned heiress in Carlitos Siguion-Reyna’s Ikaw Pa Lang Ang Minahal; the young woman contemplating abortion in Ishmael Bernal’s Hinugot Sa Langit; and the college graduate-turned-nanny in Bernal’s searing discourse on education in The Graduates. And let’s not forget Maricel’s many expert portrayals in her record-setting drama anthology The Maricel Drama Special, which ran for a decade on TV.

Eto di blind item galing sa kanal (Thu Sep 24, 2020 12:22am ET)IP: ac4587f0 | report post

No intimidating Diamond Young Janella admits she was intimidated by the thought of working with the one and only Maricel Soriano who is renowned not only as an award-winning actress but also as the undisputed “Taray Queen” of Philippine showbiz. Even Janella’s leading man in “The Heiress” felt the same way, apparently, both of them star struck and scared all at once when faced with the Diamond Star. In turn, the no-nonsense Maricel acknowledged what she had known all along and quipped at a media conference, “Bakit naman sila matatakot sa akin, eh hindi naman ako nangangagat?” When the laughter died down, and Janella and McCoy sheepishly smiling at the multi-awarded film star, their newest colleague, friend and mentor added, “Basta ang sabi ko lang sa kanila, gawin lang nila ang trabaho nila nang maayos at nandito lang ako para umalalay sa kanila.” Confirming their now “Inang Maria’s” kindness, Janella recalled, “Star struck po ako at first of course, but she was even the one who told me that I shouldn’t feel that way, at talaga pong inalalayan niya ako all the way. She was really like a mother on set who’s concerned about everyone and it’s such an honor I got to work with her and learn from her because not everyone gets that opportunity.” The Heiress casts the Diamond Star as a “mambabarang,” who in Filipino folklore is possessed by an evil spirit known as the “malalarang,” turning her into a powerful demon sorceress. As Luna, she takes in her sister’s (Sunshine Cruz) daughter Guia (Janella) and becomes so obsessed in protecting her that she will stop at nothing to keep her niece to herself. As her aunt unleashes the power of the dark spirit within her to punish and kill anyone who threatens to take her away, Guia realizes she is the next heiress and the only one who can stop the malalarang from controlling Luna. Directed by Frasco Mortiz, The Heiress is rated R-13 by the MTRCB.
