Gabriele Salvatores
Gabriele Salvatores is best known to audiences worldwide for Mediterraneo, which won the 1992 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. In 1972 he became one of the founders of the Teatro dell Elfo (Elf Theatre), which proposed new forms of theater based on a fusion of text and music. One of these works gave him the inspiration for his feature film debut a decade later, the critically lauded Sogno Di Una Notte D?Estate (1983). He went on to direct nearly a dozen other successful films, including Marrakech Express (1989), Turnè, (1989), Puerto Escondido (1992), Sud (South, 1993), Nirvana (1996) and Denti (Teeth, 2000) and Un Altro mondo è possible (Another World is Possible, 2001). . He most recently directed Amnesia" in 2002.
