Biography #2 (for New York Minute)

Jared Padalecki, best known for his role as Rory's (Alexis Bledel) boyfriend Dean on Gilmore Girls, will soon be seen starring opposite Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen in New York Minute. He stars as a laid back bohemian who, after having his hotel room broken into by the girls, becomes their accidental rescuer. In addition, Padalecki stars in Cry Wolf, in which he will play a precocious boarding school student who is drawn into an elaborate liar's club hoax involving a serial killer. When the stakes are raised and the lies become personal, the worlds of fiction and reality come crashing together with disastrous ramifications.

Currently, Padalecki is filming Flight Of The Phoenix starring opposite Dennis Quaid and Giovanni Ribisi. Jared plays a passenger on a cargo plane that goes down in a sandstorm in the Sahara with less than a dozen men on board. Ultimately, they must come up with a plan of survival and a way out.

Recently, Padalecki completed a supporting role in Cheaper By The Dozen - a role that Director Shawn Levey specifically requested him for. Additionally, he can currently be seen starring opposite Kathy Baker and Hallie Kate Eisenberg in the independent baseball movie A Little Inside.

Padalecki so captivated audiences with his recurring role as Dean on Gilmore Girls that he returned the next two seasons as a series regular. During his first hiatus, he spent two months in Australia filming the lead in the television movie Ring of Endless Light based on the novel by Madeline L'Engle.

Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Padalecki developed an interest in acting in middle school when he began taking drama classes and performing in school plays. During high school, he competed in drama competitions, garnering regional, state and even national awards. He won the 2000 Presidential Scholar Award for the National Foundation for Advancement of the Arts in the theater competition that had over 7000 entrants.

It was another national talent search that sent Padalecki on a fateful trip to Hollywood. He auditioned in a local Planet Hollywood and won the chance to be a trophy presenter for the first Teen Choice Awards. The summer before his senior year of high school, Padalecki appeared on the awards show and caught the attention of a talent manager. After graduating high school, he came out to Los Angeles and that summer landed the role on Gilmore Girls. On television, he also recently landed the coveted role of Macgyver for the WB network.
