Biography #2 (for Surface)

Trained at the Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama -- one of London's most esteemed schools of drama -- Lake Bell has quickly secured her place as one of Hollywood's most active and vibrant young talents.

Bell, who has worked frequently on NBC in recent years, returns to star in NBC's highly anticipated new sci-fi adventure series Surface, which centers on the idea of what life would be like if a new form of sea life began to appear all over the Earth.

Bell's next feature film features her cameo appearance in Adam Goldberg's psychological drama I Love Your Work, the story of a fictional movie star who suffers a gradual mental breakdown and becomes obsessed with a young film student and his girlfriend. Among Bell's other film credits are: director Chris Fisher's thriller Hillside Strangler (which debuted at the Cinevegas Film Festival and screened at the Fantasia Film Festival) and Speakeasy, executive-produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. Bell made her screen debut in the independent British feature Fresh Out of Tears, playing an American actress living in London whose big break goes terribly wrong when she can't cry on camera.

Bell's television credits include her portrayal of sassy, free-spirited attorney Sally Heep on Boston Legal, opposite Emmy Award winner James Spader and Emmy Award winner William Shatner. Prior to the hit drama, Bell starred opposite Alicia Silverstone in NBC's one-hour drama, Miss Match, as Victoria, a savvy, no-nonsense best friend and co-conspirator to Silverstone's Kate. She also starred opposite Jeff Goldblum in the NBC movie War Stories, which followed journalists covering the civil war in Uzbekistan in the wake of the U.S. campaign in Afghanistan. In addition, Bell made a guest-starring turn on two episodes of NBC's ER.

Included in Bell's extensive training in London were dance (from historical to jive) and stage combat – sword, dagger and rapier. Bell received certification from the British Academy of Dramatic Combat. Among her London theatre credits are The Seagull, Six Degrees of Separation, The Children's Hour and The Pentecost.

Bell was born in New York City and currently lives in Los Angeles.

Biography #3 (for Miss Match)

Lake Bell stars as Victoria, Kate's (Alicia Silverstone) savvy, no-nonsense best friend and co-conspirator, in NBC's sexy drama Miss Match. A bartender by profession, Victoria aids Kate in her quest to help the hopeless-in-love find their soul mates.

A native of New York City, Bell graduated in 2002 from London's esteemed conservatory, Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama, where she received training and played a wide variety of roles in numerous stage productions.

Bell recently starred alongside Jeff Goldblum as photojournalist Nora Carr in the NBC television movie War Stories and appeared as the girlfriend of a bipolar character (Tom Everett Scott) in back-to-back episodes of the network's Emmy Award-winning medical drama ER.

Bell made her screen debut in the lead role of Leila, an aspiring actress who sees her big break go horribly wrong when she can't cry on camera in the Greenwich Films independent feature Fresh Out of Tears. She recently completed filming writer/director Adam Goldberg's feature film I Love Your Work, opposite Giovanni Ribisi. She also appears in the upcoming feature Speakeasy for writer/director Brendan Murphy, and executive producers Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, which is currently garnering critical praise on the festival circuit.

Her other interests include painting, with everything from oil to watercolor, and studying foreign languages and dialects -- a skill she honed during her four years in London -- and after a lifetime of extensive international travel.

Bell currently resides in Los Angeles with her rescued pit bull Margaret.
