Danny McBride
McBride re-teamed with Hill and Best to create the 2006 Sundance comedy THE FOOT FIST WAY. The film follows the life of Tae Kwon Do strip-mall instructor Fred Simmons (McBride), an insolent black belt dealing with his personal insecurities and his unfaithful wife. Co-writer Ben Best makes an appearance as Fred's martial arts B-list movie idol (Chuck The Truck Wallace) and Hill makes an extended cameo as Fred's longtime friend and fellow tae kwon do guru, the bleached blonde Mike McAlister. The film soon caught the attention of Will Ferrell and Adam McKay who convinced Paramount Vantage to acquire the project, which they will release in May through their recently created Gary Sanchez Productions company.
This past summer, McBride made his mark with audiences with cameo roles in the comedies HOT ROD (Andy Samberg) and THE HEARTBREAK KID (Ben Stiller). The upcoming year brings another slew of comedies for McBride, for both film and television. In March, he stars alongside Owen Wilson in DRILLBIT TAYLOR for Paramount Pictures; in July, he is part of the epic comedy feature TROPIC THUNDER with Ben Stiller, Jack Black and Robert Downey Jr.; and in August, he stars in the action/comedy PINEAPPLE EXPRESS directed by David Gordon Green with Seth Rogen and James Franco. In early 2008, McBride will begin production with Will Ferrell on the sci-fi adventure/comedy LAND OF THE LOST.
Again collaborating with long-time friends and colleagues Ben Best and Jody Hill, in June, McBride will begin production on their HBO series East Bound and Down. The show, set for a fall 2008 debut, follows a washed up major-league baseball player (McBride) who returns to his North Carolina hometown to teach physical education.
McBride recently relocated from Virginia and now currently resides in Los Angeles.
