Christian Charles

A writer/director and avid yachtsman, Christian Charles began a career in London with advertising agency Ogilvy and Mather in 1989. His background in English literature, photography and art quickly led to writing and art directing TV commercials with some of Britain' s most noted commercial directors. In 1993, Charles transferred out of the London office and left behind his hometown of Bridgnorth, England to live in New York City. He continued work on Ogilvy' s television advertising campaigns for clients such as Pepsi, Lucas Films and most notably American Express, for whom he co-developed the popular and award winning ad campaign featuring Jerry Seinfeld.

Creative insight won him the respect of American commercial and film directors and added several industry awards to his collection, among them a Cannes Bronze Lion. At the height of the American Express spots, Charles accepted an invitation to join a 3-man crew in a 16-month yacht race around the world.. Having completed a lifelong goal, Charles returned to New York to pursue a career as a writer/director. His short film Close to the Wind caught Seinfeld' s attention and helped pave the way to his feature film debut COMEDIAN starring Jerry Seinfeld.
