Born in France in 1961, François Velle worked in television as a writer/director in his home country from 1988 until 1997. His work has received seven D'Or awards, the French equivalent of the Emmy Awards. In 1997, he made his feature film debut as a writer and director of the comedy Commes des Rois (Kings for a Day), which earned not only critical praise, but the attention of Dreamworks executives who have acquired remake rights for their studio.
Velle, who relocated to Los Angeles with his family in 1999, will co-produce the Dreamworks project. New Suit is Velle's second feature, and his American debut as a director.
