Biography #2 (for The Dreamlife of Angels)

Erick Zonca was born in Orleans in 1956.

At the age of 15 he decided to become a film maker.

One year later he moved to Paris, discovered American movies, enrolled in an acting class (Blanche Salon) inspired by the Lee Strasberg method and earned his living by doing odd jobs. At the age of 20 he left Paris and moved to New York, married a dancer from the Merce Cunningham Company, took classes at the Herbert Bergoff Studio, discovered European cinema at the Bleecker Street Cinema and went on earning a living by doing odd jobs. After three years in New York he returned to Paris, enrolled for two years study of philosophy at university and became a specialist of odd jobs.

At the age of 30 he finally entered the world of cinema by obtaining a traineeship. He quickly moved on to become an assistant then started directing TV documentaries.

In 1992 he directed RIVES, his first short film. Two other short films followed entitled ETERNELLES and SEULE. All three films were screened on the festival circuit and received a number of awards

LA VIE REVEE DES ANGES is his first feature film.
