Kari Skogland

Kari Skogland's most recent feature film is the upcoming thriller Zebra Lounge starring Stephen Baldwin, Kristy Swanson and Cameron Daddo. She made her feature directorial debut with the quirky comedy The Size of Watermelons, starring Ione Skye, Paul Rudd and Donal Logue. Winner of the Silver Award at the Houston International Film Festival, the film premiered in competition at The Slamdance International Festival and The Goteborg Film Festival and is still winning considerable international acclaim at film festivals around the globe. Her second film,Men With Guns, premiered at the '97 Montreal Film Festival and appeared at both the Toronto and Rotterdam Festivals.

Her early work as one of Canada's top commercial and music video directors, honed Skogland's distinct style and approach and garnered many international awards.

Beginning with the edgy MTV dramas Catwalk and Dead at 21, Skogland's television projects include the pilot for the hit Global Network series Traders, which garnered 9 Gemini nominations including Best Director.

Skogland's telefeature White Lies, starring Sarah Polley, Lynn Redgrave and Tanya Allen, was nominated for 6 Gemini awards and an International Emmy. She also directed Vanessa Williams, Diahann Carol and Gil Bellows in the television movie The Courage To Love, which premiered on the Lifetime channel.

In the fall of 2000, the Showtime's controversial new series Queer as Folk, asked Skogland to direct several of the premier episodes. She also recently wrote and directed the High Definition short Nature Boy, a period drama produced by Wesley Snipes.
