Gurinder Chadha
Her first feature Bhaji On The Beach won numerous international awards, including jury prizes at Locarno and several audience's favorite film awards. It received a BAFTA nomination for Best Film of 1994 and Chadha won the Evening Standard British Film Award for Best Newcomer to British cinema.
In 1995, she directed Rich Deceiver, a two-part drama for the BBC watched by eleven million viewers.
What's Cooking?, the opening night film at Sundance 2000, was the first British script to be invited to the Sundance Institute's Writer's Lab. Gurinder's current writing and directing projects include, Love In London, the first British Hollywood musical set in England; Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni's The Mistress Of Spices and Bend it Like Beckham, a story of desires, football and two young girls from the London suburb of Hounslow.
Gurinder Chadha divides her time between London and Los Angeles with her husband and collaborator Paul Mayeda Berges.
