Charlie Schlatter
Charlie displays enormous range and extraordinary skill as an actor, from his dramatic debut in
Bright Lights, Big City to his comedic starring role in
18 Again! with
George Burns. Charlie is probably most well known for starring in the title role of
Ferris Bueller. He has also had roles in the film
Ed, with
Matt LeBlanc, the Disney film
Heartbreak Hotel, the dark comedy
All American Murder with
Christopher Walken and the Australian feature
The Delinquents. He also appeared with
Bill Cosby in a special episode of the hit CBS drama series
Touched By An Angel.
Schlatter was born in Bergen County, New Jersey. He began acting in junior high school productions and the acting bug bit him after winning the lead role in Oliver. He majored in music and theater at Ithaca College, where he earned a bachelor's degree while spending his summers working in summer stock. While in summer stock he made such an impression on a casting director that she helped arrange auditions for him in New York. With the audition experience, Charlie flew out to Los Angeles to audition for his first feature film, Bright Lights, Big City. He earned the role of Michael J. Fox's little brother and his career was off and running. He was introduced to Diagnosis Murder. In its third season as Dr. Jesse Travis.
Schlatter is a skilled musician, and can play the piano, the guitar, and the drums, and also writes his own music. During his Ferris Bueller days he dated Jennifer Anniston. He fell in love with a publicist named Colleen. They have a daughter, Julia Marie, born in 1997.
