Richard Wilson

Richard Wilson was born in Scotland in 1936. He worked as a research scientist before attending the RADA, where he graduated at the age of 29. Since then he has gone on to become an Associate Member of RADA and received an OBE in 1994.

Wilson is probably most famous in the UK for his role as Victor Meldrew in One Foot in the Grave. Other TV appearances include: Only When I Laugh, Tutti Frutti, Born and Bred, Doctor Who and dozens of series, mini-series and TV Movies. Wilson has appeared in: A Passage to India, and 'Gulliver's Travels' with James and Edward Fox. Other film credits include: Whoops Apocalypse, Unnatural Pursuits, A Dry White Season, How to Get Ahead in Advertising and Foreign Body.

Recent commitments include appearing at the National Theatre in What the Butler Saw, and the Royal Exchange Theatre Manchester in Waiting for Godot. Wilson has been nominated for four BAFTA Awards (winning twice); two British Comedy Awards, which he won once; and a National TV Award.
