Thomas Jay Ryan
Thomas Jay Ryan made his feature film debut as the title character in
Hal Hartley's Cannes award-winning Henry Fool and most recently appeared in Lynn Hershman-Leeson's Teknolust and
Robert Redford's The Legend of Bagger Vance. Ryan's otherf ilm credits include Cloud of Unknowing, directed by Richard Sylvarnes, Hartley's The Book of Life, and Hoboken, in which he played opposite Ben Gazarra. On television, Ryan portrayed the painter Edgar Degas in the HBO original film
Degas and the Dancer, and had a lead role in the ABC series
Wonderland. Ryan has an extensive and varied stage career in the U.S. and abroad. He recently acted in the Roundabout Theatre's production of the Sean O'Casey play
Juno and the Paycock,
Craig Lucas' new play
This Thing of Darkness, as
Mike Connors in
The Philadelphia Story on the Hartford Stage and
Hedda Gabler with
Judith Light at the Shakespeare Theatre in Washington D.C. He is currently working on a new production of Bergman's
Scenes from a Marriage at the Salt Theatre.
