Mark Harmon

Emmy and Golden Globe-nominee, actor/director/producer Mark Harmon (Jim Wesley) most recently starred in the CBS mini-series And Never Let Her Go based on the best selling true story of Thomas Capano, a top political advisor who murdered a Delaware government aide with whom he was having an affair. He also co-starred with Tom Selleck in the TNT western Crossfire Trail, based on the novel by Louis L'Amour. He appeared in the independent features The Amati Girls and I'll Remember April, starred in the CBS telepicture For All Time with Mary McDonnell and finished his fourth and final season on the Emmy award-winning Chicago Hope.

Harmon's diverse body of television, film, and stage work, has shown that he is just as comfortable playing all-American astronaut, Wally Schirra, as he is portraying serial killer Ted Bundy. From early on in his career when he agreed to let his popular St. Elsewhere character contract the AIDS virus at a time when Hollywood feared even mentioning the word, Harmon has been one of today's few actors willing to take unusual risks with the roles he chooses.

Harmon made his feature film debut in Alan Pakula's Comes A Horseman with James Cann and Jane Fonda. Other film credits include Wyatt Earp, Stealing Home, The Presidio and the hugely successful Summer School directed by Carl Reiner. He has also done several standout quirky cameos in such films as Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Natural Born Killers and The Last Supper. Harmon has also appeared in such features as Casualties, Cold Heaven, Worth Winning and Let's Get Harry.

In addition to Chicago Hope and St. Elsewhere, Harmon starred in several series, telefilms and mini-series for which he received Golden Globe nominations including Reasonable Doubts, After the Promise, Deliberate Stranger, and Long Road Home. He was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Emmy for his work in Eleanor and Franklin: The White House Years. Other television projects include Dillinger, Sweet Bird of Youth with Elizabeth Taylor and directed by Nicolas Roeg, Flamingo Road, Prince of Bel Air, Moonlighting, and Centennial. Harmon starred as astronaut, Wally Schirra, in the third installment of HBO's From Here to the Moon, directed by Lili Fini Zanuck and produced by Tom Hanks. He also directed two episodes of Chicago Hope.

Raised in Southern California, Harmon excelled in sports and was a quarterback in the 1970's for the UCLA Bruins. His father, Tom Harmon, was a Heisman Trophy winner and well-known broadcaster. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, actress, Pam Dawber and their two young sons.
