Richard Riehle

Originally from Chicago, Richard Riehle graduated from Notre Dame and received his MFA from the University of Minnesota. His first film was Rooster Cogburn and the Lady opposite John Wayne and Katherine Hepburn. He moved to the east coast and performed in regional theater, eventually appearing on Broadway in the play Executive of Justice, written and directed by Emily Mann. While in New York, he landed a role in the film Glory starring Matthew Broderick and Denzel Washington.

Riehle moved to the west coast for the role of Ed Rooney in the series Ferris Bueller, and soon after landed several feature film roles, including Of Mice and Men opposite Gary Sinise and John Malkovich, Woody Allen's Shadows and Fog, Simon Wincer's Free Willy and Fried Green Tomatoes directed by Jon Avnet and starring Kathy Bates, Mary-Louise Parker, Mary Stuart Masterson and Jessica Tandy.

His other feature film credits include The Fugitive, Casino, Ghost of Mississippi, The Odd Couple II, Mercury Rising and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Last year he was seen in Mike Judge's two films, Office Space and Deuce Bigelow, Male Gigolo, the latter in which he played Rob Schneider's father. He will soon be seen in Peter and Bobby Farrelly's film Say It Isn't So starring Chris Klein and Heather Graham.

Riehle continues to work as much as possible on the stage. Most recently he performed on Broadway with Kevin Spacey in The Ice Man Cometh. He was last seen on stage in Los Angeles in Distant Fires with Samuel L. Jackson and D.B. Sweeney.
