Wes Studi most recently joined an allstar cast in the feature film Heat, playing opposite Al Pacino, Robert De Niro and Val Kilmer. Studi won standout notices for his performance in Geronimo: An American Legend portraying the legendary Indian leader. He also appeared as Sagat in Street Fighter, with JeanClaude Van Damme and Raul Julia.Studi won the Most Promising Actor award from the Chicago Film Critics for his role as Magua in the film version of The Last of the Mohicans starring Daniel DayLewis. He was also honored with an Outstanding Actor in a Supporting Role award from the Film Advisory Board and was the first actor to receive the Totem Award for Outstanding Performance from the newly-formed First Americans in the Arts organization.
Other film credits of Studi's include Dances with Wolves (as The Toughest Pawnee) and PowWow Highway, directed by Jonathan Wachs. Television credits include Crazy Horse for TNT, the CBS miniseries, The Streets of Laredo, The Broken Chain for Turner and, for CBS, Return to Plum Creek.
An accomplished stone carver and author of two children's books, Studi also provided the Cherokee translations for the Pulitzer Prizewinning drama, The Kentucky Cycles.
