Biography #2Sagemiller, the daughter of a political activist and a professional football player (Washington Redskins and New York Giants), grew up in and around Washington, D.C. There she began studying dance and theatre theater at age 9. At 16, she began modeling in New York and in Paris for a summer when she was 17. After deciding she wanted to go to college and quit modeling, Melissa went on to graduate from the University of Virginia, where she majored in English Literature and History and served as President president of the campus women's rights group. Following college, she relocated to New York City to continue study studying acting again, most notably at the renowned Stella Adler Conservatory.
Sagemiller began her professional acting career doing commercials (Pepsi, Chevy, et.al.) before landing a Hollywood agent. She recently guest- starred in an upcoming episode of Dick Wolf's new NBC series, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and is also starring in the upcoming Miramax comedy, Get Over It, with Kirsten Dunst, Ben Foster (Liberty Heights), Shane West (Once & Again) and Martin Short.
