Biography #2 (for The Emperor's Club)

Embeth Davidtz first captured Hollywood's attention with her haunting performance as Helen Hirsch, the concentration camp prisoner in Steven Spielberg's Schindler's List. Critical praise brought a flurry of offers from dramas to comedies. She was nominated for a Blockbuster Entertainment Award for Favorite Actress in a Comedy for her role as Little Miss Portia Charney in 1 999's Bicentennial Man.

She grew up in South Africa, studied at Rhodes University and began her acting career in the National Theatre Company's production of Romeo & Juliet, which brought her rave reviews.

Her film credits include: Army of Darkness, Murder in the First, Feast of July, Matilda, Fallen, The Gingerbread Man, Mansfield Park and Bridget Jones Diary.

Her television credits include Citizen Baines and Shackleton.
