Kevin Allen

Kevin Allen began with an unorthodox career combination – acting in the UK before writing and directing six documentary films for the BBC on diverse subjects ranging from soccer hooliganism to a mass murder investigation within the Glasgow underworld. Coming through all that relatively unscathed, he then moved on to write and direct feature films.

Set in his hometown of Swansea, South Wales, Allen's nihilistic debut feature, Twin Town, was unleashed to an unsuspecting public in May 1997. The film was in official competition at the Berlin Film Festival, premiered at Sundance, received BAFTA nominations for Best Director, Best Film and Best Screenplay, and has attained cult status in the UK.

He directed and produced his second feature, The Big Tease, which was released in February 2000. In direct contrast to Twin Town, it's a satirical look at the world of international competitive hairdressing and was received with critical acclaim both in the UK and US.

After the release of The Big Tease, Allen took a year-long motor-home trip across the U.S. and researched and wrote RV, an extreme, surreal comedy about elderly Viagra dealers in an RV park in Alabama.

Kevin lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Laura, and daughters, Gracie and Nell.
