Biography #2 (for She Hate Me)For the past twenty-five years Ellen Barkin has worked in movies, television and on the stage. She has appeared in over thirty-five films; among them Diner, Tender Mercies, The Big Easy, Sea of Love and This Boy's Life. She has worked with esteemed actors and directors such as Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, Jack Nicholson, Paul Newman, Blake Edwards, Jim Jarmusch, Sidney Lumet, Spike Lee and Todd Solondz. She has been nominated for several Golden Globes and won a Best Actress Emmy for her work in Oprah Winfrey's Before Women had Wings. This year she will appear for HBO in Sidney Lumet's Thought Crimes, in Spike Lee's She Hate Me and Todd Solondz's Palindromes.
A native New Yorker, Ellen was honored to be asked by Spike Lee to participate in this film and help Spike interpret his most singular and iconic vision. She looks forward to future collaboration with this visionary filmmaker.

Biography #3A standout actress since her critically acclaimed performance in Barry Levinson's Diner, Ellen Barkin has built an impressive body of work in theater and motion pictures. Barkin took home her first Emmy Award for her portrayal of Glory Marie in Oprah Winfrey's Before Women Had Wings in which she played a wildly embittered woman haunted by a tragic past and trapped in an alcoholic present.
Throughout her career, Barkin has compiled a distinguished list of film credits and has worked with some of Hollywood's most esteemed directors and actors. She starred in Sea of Love with Al Pacino, Man Trouble with Jack Nicholson, Bruce Beresford's Tender Mercies with Robert Duvall, Paul Newman's Harry and Son, Jim Jarmuch's Down by Law, Walter Hill's Johnny Handsome, John Turturro's Mac, and Blake Edwards' comedy, Switch.
