Jonathan Frakes
Jonathan Frakes directs Star Trek: Insurrection after making his highly successful feature film directorial debut with the box-office hit Star Trek: First Contact. Frakes also portrays Commander William Riker, the executive officer and second-in- command on board the Enterprise, a role he played in the series Star Trek: The Next Generation as well as the films Star Trek: Generations and Star Trek: First Contact. Frakes had played recurring roles in the television series The Doctors, Falcon Crest, Paper Dolls and Bare Essence before joining the crew of the USS. Enterprise. He earned critical acclaim for his performances in the miniseries Dream West and North and South and starred in the ABC telefilm Brothers of the Frontier.
Frakes has directed episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager, as well as episodes of Diagnosis Murder and University Hospital. He also directed the CD-ROM Star Trek: Klingon."
Frakes is currently executive producing the Fox Television pilot, Roswell High. in association with Regency, and developing various film and television projects for his company, Goepp Circle Productions, which is based at Paramount, with partner Lisa J. Olin. He also serves as host of the popular Fox Network series Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction.
Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Frakes now resides in Los Angeles with his wife, actress Genie Francis, and their two children.
