Liz Smith (born December 11, 1921) is a British character actress, best known for her appearances in sitcoms such as The Vicar of Dibley.

Born at Scunthorpe in Lincolnshire, Liz Smith was already a mature actress when she first appeared on screen in the early 1970s. Since then her face has become familiar as a result of regular appearances in television series such as Emmerdale, I Didn't Know You Cared, Within These Walls, The Bill, 2point4 Children and The Royle Family.

More recently, she appeared as Grandma Georgina in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and provided the voice of Mr Mulch in Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

Enjoys life with her partner and longtime companion, British playwright Sybil Tewson.
