Virginie Ledoyen
Her breakthrough part came in Olivier Assayas' 1994 film L' Eau froide in which she played a troubled French teenager. Her next film was Claude Chabrol's La Cérémonie with Isabelle Huppert and Sandrine Bonnaire.
In 1995 she starred in Benoît Jacquot's La Fille seule for which she was nominated for the Most Promising Young Actress at the 1996 César Awards. Ledoyen next appeared in Edward Yang's Mahjong, Gérard Krawczyk's Héroïnes, and Olivier Ducastel and Jacques Martineau's Jeanne et le garçon formidable, which won first prize at the Paris Film Festival in 1998, with Ledoyen awarded Best Actress.
Most recently, Ledoyen appeared in James Ivory's A Soldier's Daughter Never Cries, Pierre Jolivet's En Plein Coeur and Olivier Assayas' Fin août, début septembre.
Ledoyen will next star in Les Miserables with Gérard Depardieu and John Malkovich, directed by Josée Dayan, and she is currently shooting an as yet untitled film directed by Jean-François Richet.
