A. J. LANGER is widely known for her role as Rayanne Graff, the brash and fun-loving best friend of Angela Chase on the critically acclaimed and award-winning series My So-Called Life. Langer also has a recurring role in Steven Bochco's lauded series Brooklyn South.

In film, Langer starred with Kurt Russell in John Carpenter's Escape From L.A. as Utopia, the President's daughter. She previously co-starred in And You Thought Your Parents Were Weird, and made her feature debut in Wes Craven's The People Under the Stairs.

She was a series regular on Drexell's Class as Dabney Coleman's daughter, and had a recurring role on Coach. Her other series credits include Seinfeld, Touched By An Angel, The Wonder Years, In The Heat of the Night, Parker Lewis Can't Lose and Beverly Hills, 90210.

Langer starred in the telefilms The Judds: Love Can Build a Bridge and in the award-winning CBS Schoolbreak Special Between Mother and Daughter with Lindsay Crouse and Dan Lauria.

A native of Columbus, Ohio, Langer's family moved to Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley when she was five. She was given the nickname A. J.-short for Allison Joy-while playing as the only girl on a Little League baseball team. Langer's outgoing spirit also shone through at her junior high school, where, as student body president, she was encouraged by an algebra teacher to use her charisma and public speaking abilities in acting. She was introduced to Ernie Lively who became her acting coach and mentor, and who helped to launch her career.
