Biography #2 (for Da Vinci's Inquest)

At the age of 19, Jewel Staite is a seasoned actress with an impressive credit list including lead roles in the Fox series Higher Ground, the Disney TV series Flash Forward, which earned her a 1998 Gemini Award nomination; and Nickelodeon's Space Cases. Recent credits include a lead role in the comedy feature Cheaters as well as the TV movie Roughing It. She has held recurring and guest star roles in Disney's Honey, I Shrunk The Kids, So Weird, Nothing Too Good For A Cowboy, The X-Files, Are You Afraid of the Dark? and The Odyssey. Staite's other film work includes Golddiggers, Carpool, and Meeting Dad (for which she won a Best Actor Award at the Canadian Television and Film Showcase in 1993.)

Staite has served as National Youth Spokesperson for the Children With Aids Project of America (CWA) which offers a variety of services for children infected with or affected by AIDS or drug-exposed infants who will require foster or adoptive families. While Staite is a talented actress, her great love is singing the blues.
