Since receiving Academy Award(R) and Golden Globe nominations for Best Supporting Actress in her feature film debut in October Films' critically acclaimed masterpiece Secrets & Lies, Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Roshanda) has been keeping a busy work schedule.

In January of 1999, she was seen starring opposite Rosie Perez in Artisan Entertainment's feature film comedy The 24 Hour Woman. The film revolved around the life of a talk show producer.

Recently, Jean-Baptiste was seen starring in two independent features: Phoenician Films' drama A Murder of Crows, also starring Cuba Gooding Jr., and How to Make the Cruelest Month, which won critical acclaim at the 1998 Sundance Film Festival.

Jean-Baptiste's additional film credits include Mr. Jealousy with Eric Stoltz and the ABC/Oprah Winfrey telefilm The Wedding, in which she starred opposite Halle Berry.

In addition to acting, Jean-Baptiste is also an accomplished playwright and composer. She recently composed the score for Mike Leigh's latest release, Career Girls, and has four tracks feature on Jason Rabello's BMG jazz recording Keeping Time.

Jean-Baptiste was born in London and graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.
