Michael Corrente

Michael Corrente returns to his native Rhode Island with OUTSIDE PROVIDENCE, a coming-out-of-the-haze comedy he co-wrote with Peter and Bobby Farrelly. Corrente made an impressive feature film debut with Federal Hill, a critically admired story of a group of Italian American friends in Rhode Island. The film won top honors at France's Deauville Film Festival. He went on to produce and direct American Buffalo starring Dustin Hoffman and Dennis Franz, based on David Mamet's three-person play. He also produced Say You'll Be Mine starring Libby Langdon, Gil Bellows, Justine Bateman and Daniel Lapaine.

Corrente grandauted from Trinity Repertory Conservatory in 1981 and immediately landed in New York City where he established Studio B Theater Ensemble and produced and directed over twenty plays including American Buffalo by David Mamet, Lone Star by Jame McClure and The Balcony by Jean Genet. After developing his one act play, Not For Nuthin' into the full-length play Federal Hill, Corrente produced it for the stage in New York's Sanford Meisner Theater. That effort spurred his crossover into the film industry and Federal Hill became his first feature film.
