Robert Lawrence
Most recently, Lawrence was CEO and producer at the Warner Bros.-based Maysville Pictures, the company he founded with George Clooney. Prior to partnering with Clooney, Lawrence produced the hit Paramount comedy Clueless starring Alicia Silverstone, and served as executive producer on Die Hard With A Vengeance, starring Bruce Willis. His other producing credits include the Kelsey Grammar comedy Down Periscope, A Kiss Before Dying, starring Matt Dillon and Sean Young, Rapid Fire, starring the late Brandon Lee, the Showtime original movie Gang In Blue, starring Mario Van Peebles and is currently producing The Last Castle for DreamWorks, starring Robert Redford, James Gandolfini and Mark Ruffalo.
Before becoming an independent producer, Lawrence served as President of Production for United Artists, where he developed and supervised such successful and memorable films as Rainman, starring Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman, Presumed Innocent starring Harrison Ford, and the Robin Williams comedy Mrs. Doubtfire. Previously, Lawrence was Executive Vice President, Worldwide Production for Columbia Pictures, where he worked on Ghostbusters, The Karate Kid, Tootsie, Out Of Africa and The Jagged Edge.
Lawrence began his film career in the Paramount story department, later joining the Robert Evans unit as a writer. Lawrence graduated with honors from the University of California, Berkeley and attended the M.F.A. screenwriting/directing program at the University of California, Los Angeles.
