Rene Russo, who has made a rapid ascent in less than a decade to become one of the top actresses in film, reprises her role from Lethal Weapon 3 as the tough-talking (and hitting) Internal Affairs cop who clashes and then finally connects with Martin Riggs.

Russo will next be seen in the The Thomas Crown Affair starring opposite Pierce Brosnan. The film, which is set to start production in September, is a remake of the 1968 heist drama that starred Steve McQueen as a wealthy thief and Faye Dunaway as the investigator who pursues him. The Thomas Crown Affair was written by Kurt Wimmer and Leslie Dixon and will be directed by John McTiernan.

In 1996 she re-teamed with Mel Gibson as they played husband and wife in Ron Howard's thriller Ransom, and a psychologist opposite Kevin Costner in the comedy Tin Cup. In 1997 she starred as socialite Trudy Lintz in Buddy.

Russo was seen as the B-movie queen in the critically acclaimed hit comedy Get Shorty opposite John Travolta and Gene Hackman, and played a medical researcher alongside Dustin Hoffman and Morgan Freeman in Outbreak.

A native of California, Russo grew up in Burbank and, at 18, was discovered at a Rolling Stones concert and encouraged to become a fashion model. Soon afterward, she moved to New York and became a top model for the Ford Agency. She graced the covers of virtually every fashion magazine throughout her successful modeling career in the late 1970s and 1980s.

Her screen career made a similarly rapid ascent as she turned to acting in the comedy Major League (1989) and followed with roles in Mr. Destiny, Freejack and One Good Cop. Her role in Lethal Weapon 3 showed her facility with both action and comedy and, after that film's release, Wolfgang Peterson cast her as a Secret Service agent opposite Clint Eastwood in In The Line of Fire.
