Po Chih Leong

Born and raised in the United Kingdom, Leong received his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Exeter University, where he ran the University film unit. Leong has directed more than ten feature films, in both English and Chinese, in locations all over the world, including Canada, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore.

Leong's critical successes include Hong Kong 1941, which both introduced and starred Chow Yun Fat; Itchy Fingers, produced by Terrence Chang; Ping Pong (Venice Film Festival); and Shanghai 1920, starring John Lone (Toronto Film Festival). His Miramax Film The Wisdom of Crocodiles won the Best Film Award at the Brussels Film Festival and the Best Director Award at the Valenciennes Action/Adventure Film Festival. The feature first premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in Fall of 1999, and was presented shortly thereafter at the Montreal Film Festival.

In 2000, Leong finished two back-to-back productions for USA, Cabin by the Lake (also produced by Neal Moritz) and The Darkling. In 2001, he directed Walking Shadow for A&E, as well as this sequel to Cabin by the Lake. He is currently attached to direct the MGM feature film Blood and Chocolate.
