Joanne Whalley

Whalley most recently starred as a beautiful but devious wife in The Guilty, opposite Bill Pullman, and as an unstable estranged mother in A Texas Funeral. Some of her other film credits include The Man Who Knew Too Little, opposite Bill Murray; To Kill a Priest, directed by Agnieszka Holland; The Good Father with Anthony Hopkins; Kill Me Again directed by John Dahl, The Secret Rapture, adapted from the David Hare play of the same name, Storyville and Trial by Jury.

Whalley's feature film debut in the fantasy Willow, directed by Ron Howard, garnered her international attention. She also received critical acclaim for her portrayal of the infamous Christine Keller, the call girl whose affairs rocked British parliament in Scandal with John Hurt and Bridget Fonda.

Her starring roles in two well-known British television series, Edge of Darkness and the popular The Singing Detective, proved a strong launching point for her motion picture career. Whalley also played the title role in the CBS mini-series Scarlet, with Timothy Dalton as Rhett Butler.

Born in Manchester, England, Whalley knew that she wanted to be an actress from early childhood. Her background in and love of theatre remains an abiding passion and an ongoing part of her career. The variety of roles she performed on stage from Edward Bond to Chekov prepared her for the different film roles she has been offered. Whalley makes her home in Los Angeles with her two young children.
