LeVar Burton
Burton earned an Ernmy Award for portraying the central character, Kunta Kinte, in the acclaimed miniseries Roots.' His film credits include roles in Looking for Mr. Goodbar and The Hunter," with Steve McQueen.
Burton is currently celebrating his 14th season as the host and co-executive producer of the highly acclaimed PBS children's series Reading Rainbow. His other television credits include One in a Million: The Ron Lef lore Story, Grambling's White Tiger, The Guyana Tragedy, A Roots Christmas: Kunta Kinte's Gift, Dummy and Billy: Portrait of a Street Kid.
Burton directed several episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager, as well as directing his first dramatic telefilm, the acclaimed The Tiger Woods Story, for Showtime. His company, Eagle Nation Films, has signed an overall deal with Paramount Pictures to produce television and feature film projects. His first feature project for Paramount, currently in development, is Masters of the Far East, based on a series of books by Baird T. Spaulding.
Burton debuted as an author with his science fiction novel, Aftermath, for Warner Books.
