by Ciaran O'Carroll Madeleine was my first cousin and we met many times both in France and in Spain, before she died in 1987.
I am developng a website dedicated to her, and would love to hear from anyone with perhaps memories of her, stories, or photographs that might be included.
Kind regards,
Ciaran O'Carroll

| by John Ries Your first cousin was the most stunningly beautiful actress of Hollywood's Golden Age who, unfortunately, played in far too few films. I understand that she was also a wonderful person who interrupted her film career to serve unselfishly as a nurse in Europe during the Second World War at the height ofher popularity. I suggest Ebay for photos of Madeleine if you save some for the rest of us.
Best wishes with your website.

| by Ciaran O'Carroll John Many thanks for your encouragement - I have already accumulated an enormous amount of information on Madeleine and the website is about to receive a significant input, amongst other things an interview I did this month for the BBC in the UK.
Also, plans are being considered for a celebration of her centenary birthday on February 26th 2006 - in Northern Spain, where she is buried.
Best wishes

| by Ciaran O'Carroll John Madeleine's tribute site is now up and running on www.madeleinecarroll.com. Do check in and join the forum if you wish. Things are only getting under way, but it will hopefully be a good place to share some information on her life and career.
There are now moves to have her recognised by the UK Government, for her war work in Italy and France. Tis would be very appropriate.
Best regards
Ciaran O'Carroll
