Sophie Marceau

One of France's most recognizable film stars, Sophie Marceau is possibly best known in the U.S. for her debut performance as Princess Isabel in Mel Gibson's Braveheart, and for her part as Bond girl Elektra King in The World is Not Enough. She was also featured as Hippolyta in A Midsummer Night's Dream opposite Kevin Kline and Michelle Pfeiffer and in the lighthearted Lost and Found opposite comedian David Spade.

Marceau was most recently seen in Belphégor - Le fantôme du Louvre for director Jean-Paul Salomé and she also starred in La Fidélité for Poland's acclaimed director Andrzej Zulawski.

Marceau became a star in France with her debut film, La Boum; two years later the sequel brought her a Cesar Award for Female Performer of the Year. Since then, she has gone on to star in more than twenty feature films, including Leo Tolstoy's Anna Karina, directed by Bernard Rose; Firelight, directed by William Nicholson; La note bleue, Mes nuits sont plus belles que vos jours and L'amour braque, directed by Andrzej Zulawski. Marceau's stage debut in Jean Anouilh's Euridyce brought her a Moliere Award for Female Revelation of the Year. She also starred as Eliza Dolittle in Pygmalion at the Theatre des Arts Hebertot in 1993.
