Monica Calhoun

Monica Calhoun is one of the hottest new African American actresses in the business. She has shared screen time with the likes of Whoopi Goldberg, Danny Devito and Drew Barrymore.

Her film CIVIL BRAND debuted at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival and will be released through Lion's Gate this summer. She just wrapped the independent film Justice in Minneapolis.

Her blockbuster The Best Man is notable for being the first all black film to reach number one at the box office. She plays Mia, the bride with a hidden secret and co-stars with Nia Long, Morris Chestnut and Taye Diggs.

Monica has demonstrated her range in projects as disparate as the controversial Park Day to The Jacksons: An American Dream to Love and Basketball.

In Rebound, Eriq LaSalle's directorial debut, Monica co-stars with Don Cheadle, Loretta Divine and James Earl Jones.

A Philly native, Monica started performing in Ballet class. When she moved to LA, Monica continued to study dance and ventured into theater. One of her schoolmates turned her on to the Inglewood Playhouse where she began her career as an actress.

She went from acting in plays at the Morgan Wixon Theater to her first movie of the week Children of the Night and her first film Bagdad Café. Monica has also appeared in many television series including Malcolm and Eddie, The Jamie Foxx Show and The Wayans Brothers.

She resides in Los Angeles.
