by Michael of England The greatest genius of horror and macabre there ever was! I really believe he was born for the job, as life is far spookier than we imagine. He had exactly the right soul for the role-he instinctively understood every nuance of the genre-he knew more than any other that it was high theatre and wonderfully camp. He teased out every drop of humour with his hammy, toungue in cheek style of acting, and his magnificent voice and classical diction gave exactly the right, elevated tone when playing Eddie Poe leads. He was recognising the great literiness that the gothic horror in particular, had managed. He more than any other, including Corman, Lee or Cushing, lent the horror genre a well deserved air of prestige. The slashers have since ruined the genre-rise up Vincent Price and rule again. O how this once noble art form needs you now!
