That's how the guests of Ruffa Gutierrez describe her 33rd birthday bash held at the Alchemy Club (Vapor Room) on June 20. "Didn't really want to celebrate this year, but Drs. Manny and Pie Calayan wanted to cheer me up and make me happy," says the beauteous birthday lady. The masquerade party is strictly by invitation. Only by a few of her friends and colleagues celebrate with her. Among the early birds are Anna Roces, YES! magazine and PEP editor-in-chief Jo-Ann Maglipon, Douglas Quijano, Eat Bulaga! lady executive Malou Choa-Fagar, and Gabby Eigenmann. It's also an occasion for rare gatherings. Rival TV networks GMA-7 and ABS-CBN are there. ABS-CBN Executive Vice President Charo Santos-Concio chats with GMA-7 Senior Vice President for Entertainment Wilma Galvante. When the photographers ask for a brief picture session, they readily pose. Says Douglas Quijano about the two powerful ladies, "Magkaibigan naman talaga ang mga iyan." At 10:00 p.m. guests begin pouring in. Some arrive in pairs—Gutierrez patriarch Eddie Gutierrez and matriarch Annabelle Rama, Almira Muhlach and Bong Alvarez, Bianca King and Champ Lui-Pio, Phoem Barranda with a non-showbiz date, Bb. Ang imbitasyon ng Regal na ginawa sa Imperial Palace Suites ay para sa pagpirma muli ng kontrata ni Ruffa sa kanyang unang home studio. Pero hindi lang pala siya ang pumirma ng kontrata, kundi pati na rin ang ina niyang si Annabelle Rama. "Noong una talaga, ayoko ng movie," sabi ni Annabelle sa presidential table. "Hanggang commercial lang ako kasama ng kambal [Richard and Raymond Gutierrez]. Na-addict yata ako sa acting kaya nang tinanong ako ni Mother Lily [Monteverde] kung gusto kong umarte, pumayag na rin ako. "Actually, ayaw nina Richard and Raymond na mag-movie ako. Two days ago, sabi ko sa kanila, pipirma ako sa Regal. Akala ni Richard nagbibiro ako. Kanina nang nalaman niyang totoo pala, tini-text ako huwag daw akong pumirma. After ng press con for The Buzz kahapon, June 19, ay nakipag-meeting pa si Ruffa with Direk Wenn Deramas, na siyang magdidirek ng kauna-unahang Sine Serye ni Ruffa sa ABS-CBN. Si Ruffa na ang papalit kay Alma Moreno bilang ina ni Julia Barretto at asawa ni Redford White sa remake ng Kokey. Mismong si Direk Wenn ang nagkumpirma sa PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) ng balitang ito dahil two days na raw hindi sinipot ni Alma ang taping ng Kokey. Kahit daw sa story conference ay hindi dumating ang aktres, na bagong halal na konsehala din ng Parañaque. Dahil sa hindi pagsipot ni Alma sa taping, instead na two days taping lang sa bahay na pinagkukunan nila ng eksena ay aabot pa sila ngayon ng four to five days.
