Mary Anderson

Mary Anderson was a film and television actress. Many times confused with the stage and early screen actress of the same name who died in 1940, Mary Anderson appeared in a number of memorable films in the 1940s. When she was just sixteen, Anderson made her first screen appearance as Maybelle Meriweather in Gone With the Wind (1939). She can also be seen in Alfred Hitchcock's Lifeboat and the lavish film Wilson (1944). Ending her film career in the early 1950s, she occasionly acted on television, most notably in the prime-time soap opera Peyton Place. Anderson was married to cimematographer Leon Shamroy. She was sometimes credited under her birth name Bebe Anderson.
